Nope.Rallye has the 1.6 8v (103 bhp i think), whilst the GTi has the 1.6 16v(120 bhp)

1.6 8v's, and on the road they feel faster and more nimble than the GTi.

My mates got a mint S2 Rallye, its wicked woo woo

the rallye is very underestimated... my mate has one... stripped it out (even more than standard) full exhaust, decat, manifold... bmc... pulley ... ran a 15.2 at york a month ago.... .1 quicker than my best time (with a shit start in the damp) ... however on the road I had his life above 50mph..... good cars though.... rallye + tuned 16v engine = 2ltr corsa beater

The in gear times are very similar, I think it would come down to the better driver if they went head to head.

S1 1.3 rallye's are a tiny bit quicker than the S2 iirc



I managed to get a white GTI so i got the best of both worlds

Where did you hear that? I have owned both and the 1.3 is certainly not quicker.

granted its 50kg lighter then the s2 rallye but its only got 80lb/ft torque compare to the s2`s 100lb/ft.

dunno poss not then but is'nt here only about 5 bhp difference?

There is 3bhp difference, but 20lb/ft difference in torque.

I much prefer the S1. Much nicer engine . . well it revs a lot higher for some reason goes a bit quicker or maybe it just feels it! Still the TU engine in both.

and most people who buy 106 gti's are spotty so the rallye would win
