apparently its the immobiliser which sits under there, my old corsa had no imob yet was 6 months newer than my GSi & it had the lil pit thing, but as the GSi has an immob, its just a useless bit of space!
tbh im debating relocating the imob box or whatever it is from there to somewhere else & fitting a bit with the pit-box as it was useful for holding my loose change & other bits & bobs!
