Hey Lads,
Im wanting to upgrade the front door speakers so I can get rid of the 6*9's outa the back cuz they are gettin wrecked with the subs below.
I know I need 5¼ inchers to fit straight in. Anyone any reccomendations? Not wanting to spend to much, say bout £50 or so.
Something along the lines of:

Or would I be better with 3 ways as I am not bothering with components?
I take it it will be a decent improvement on the standard ones?
Cheers for your help

just get the adapters from halfords and put some 16cm instead, spend bit more than 50 on some decent 16cm speakers

These would be better they have 55W RMS and will run well off the head unit, you could get a cheap amp of ebay which will greatly improve the sound. If your not lookin on spending a lot they will be fine.

OK, say I were to get components, if im wiring em in, can I just use the existing speaker wire in the door? Or will I have to run a new wire from the headunit?
Sorry if its a daft question

u dont need that wire...
u put the wire that goes into bottom speaker into the component crossover, then run wires from that box to the component mid and tweeter...

Ah rite no sweat that will be easy! I thought it was more complicated than that!
Components it is then, I'll take you advice. Can't wait to get rid of my 6*9's I have just realised how awful it sounds.
Make me some reccomendations guys if u can..... about £50-70 delivered

Just made a purchase:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5730082070&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT
Hopefully these will do the job??
Sort of an impulse buy, just seen em a few mins before the auction ended, I remember reading that audiobahn was a good make (on this forum somewhere) so I stuck a bid on and got em!
From what I can see from websites they are 160w RMS
Anyone know anything about em?
