can this be redeemed, bore no 2 has a glazed brown gum like substance in patches on the wall of it, can i hone it away, scrape it off of sand it away.... i managed to polish some of it off just by rubbing with a polishing cloth but there are more stubborn bits.

No worries, matey, im 99.9% sure i got the inlet bolts you reqire, give me a sec and i will up load a pic i took for ya when i was sorting them out

Real bad pic taken on my phone the top 10mm or so of the bolt has no thread its smooth

The brown glazy stuff just sounds like oil, has the engine been sat for a while, Best thing to do is to break the glaze with a hone, just make sure ya dont hone too much, as you will have to adjust the rings to suit otherwise

the head gasket had gone on it someone used a really cheap and nasty gasket

So its gotta be baked on oil/water as long as the bores aint corroded you shouldbe aright, if the bores are smooth and you can still see honing marks the engine wont be in too bad nick, check for oval bores, check if there is a lip at the top of the stroke, check the pisons for wobble in the bores, If in any dought get it bored and fit new pistons, but that can cost ya a bit,
