it wont cost much, take long to do it....

Your going to give the 1600 bottom end ARP's yeah? the head will be off...... = not too much extra work to have pistons in/out

that is true, gonna see what the outcome of the compression test is first, Lee M has a feeling the head on it at the mo is cracked, so gonna put the 1.416v head on it

Yes James - they will work fine. I ran them on totally standard pistons. No problems with valve clearance. That only really becomes a problem when you run high lift cams, The lift on those Schrick cams isn't too severe. The cams are really nice with TBs - I had 180bhp on standard pistons (8K rev limit) with a very flat torque curve

Cheers mate - but it's broken at the moment. Dropped a valve and needs a complete engine rebuild

However, it's being rebuilt to be more reliable and more powerful

Its an oil recirulation system actually, andy's car still has a wet sump. When the engine spins to 9000 rpm the oil is getting pumped into the top of the engine faster then it is falling to the sump the cam cover fills with oil and becomes pressurised. This means that the level of oil in the sump is reduced. If the car is cornering hard and oil surge becomes a problem this can lead to there being no oil in the sump in the area of the pick up leading to oil starvation problems and a knackered engine. That system was developed by protec to prevent this happening. It works by sucking the oil from the top of the cam cover and returning it to the sump below the pickup.

similar to a dry sump but there is no pump.

Ian
