Why? MCE isn't for playing games and although i agree with buying a pc instead of an xbox a barebones system won't be anywhere near as good quality graphics as an xbox. And for 99 quid atm you can't really complain.

u can install games on media centre edition, its basically just windows xp with the media stuff built in, you can even add mce to a domain

bare bones systems should come with an agp slot so you can add any gfx card you like, although some dont come with an agp slot

MCE is installed over xp just like any normal program. I doubt the games are played inside MCE. They will just be played like they would be without that installed. Its more for pvr and tv/movie etc functions.

and music, but if you wanted it permanently attached to your tv you'd want media centre even if you didnt use it to play games cus then you could use it for dvds etc

and MCE comes with its own cd as an installable operating system, infact they have changed the basic engine to be more like xp home, ie no domain functionality in the latest edition

I've not seen it since the official beta tests for the latest one but then it came as 2 cd's. One with a normal copy of xp and the 2nd one the mce install disc.

XP MCE will play games just as XP Home/Pro do. It's the same OS underneath.

whats the point of mce, if your not gonna use it for PVR etc ?!? and even then, most people would have the brains and use linux with myth etc - as it will be more powerful

Use xp or 2000 for games, and yes you can still plug it up to your tv
