followng on from my post about changing the fuel filter on my car, that i DONT need to depressurise the fuel system to change it and that leaving it standing for 30 mins will depressurise it enuff???

not what it says in haynes manual, it needs to have pressure so u don't get air thru i thought

just unclip the filter - you'll get a little spray of petrol but tbh not a great deal

remove the filler cap to depressurise the tank. you'll get a bit of petrol coming out but not much

from unhooking the manifold on my old 1.4i - yes...
only a few psi - nothing huge
plus it doesnt take long for it to dry up anyways

there should be a release valve on the end of the fuel rail its just like a tyre valve its not hard

think haynes tell you the safest method so as to avoid future law suits, thats why even if youre changing your wiper blade it advises you to remove the battery

Just remove fuel cap that will be enough. You won't get much fuel come out

I did this yet there was still some pressure in it...
the pump has a non-return valve so pressure remains in the lines

I don't think my non return valve is connected up, ask Lee my engine is special.

fuel rail is under the inlet on 16xe's. not that easy to get to.
