Is it true you are not allowed to work shifts unless there is a minimum of a 12 hour gap?

Sounds about right. Think you have to work so many hours in one day and then have 12 hours off before starting again.
Not many places take and notice of it tho

Its a restaunt pub. Been there 4 years - partime mostly.

I thought it was 10 or 11 hours time you needed before shifts, i might be wrong though

Its 11 mate IIRC.
Although sometimes I finish at 2 and am back in for 9 the next morning!

'Rest periods between working days
Your workers are entitled to regular rest periods between working days, which are in addition to any holiday entitlement.
Workers aged 18 and over should have a minimum 11 hours' rest between each working day, and shouldn't be forced to work more than six days in every seven, or 12 days in every 14. It's especially important this is considered when arranging shifts.
Exceptions can be made for:
busy periods
emergencies
people working away from home

Refer to your contract, if you sign one saying 15 days, then you get 15 days because you agreed to it.

If your working 2 days a week then they wont pay you for 20 days holiday will they?
Read your contact. What company is it with? Does it not say on your pay slip how much holiday you have? I know a lot of pub / resturant chains do this.

No the 4 weeks holiday is worked out on how many ours you do a week if you are contracted to do 2 days a week, you get 4 weeks holiday but only 2 days a week.

so 8 days then
Its normally done by hours, eg for every 8 hours worked = 1 holiday hour, if you work 2 days a week each being 8 hours then thats 2 hours a week that you accrue
8 hours a month = 1 day per month means 12 days per annum
