does your ps2 have to have any special mods to it to play jap version? plus it will be completely in japanese am i right?

to play jap games it has be either a jap ps2 or chipped.

as for the language, some come only in jap, but most come with other languages on.

i have an early jap ps2 cnt chip to play uk games

yes all in japanese, was a challenge figurin out what i had to do in the licences
