Atm i have a caribic blue corsa twist, fully colour coded and with tsw 15s.

The cars engine blew on monday night, it had done 111k..alot of miles for a small car.Im in a dodgy situation now, as i dont know if to stick a 1.2 8v back in with low milage (getting the car back on the road in a few weeks) or saving up for a few months and going for the 1.4 16v conversion.

For the 1.2 8v ive been quoted everywhere..£150 for fitting and the cheapest ive seen the engine going for is £200.

What should i do? I dont wanna sell i really like the car.

1.2 8v is 44bhp
1.4 16v is 88bhp

fit the engine yourself, if u can use basic hand tools and read a haynes manual u r sorted.

what about a 1.4 8v, straight swap, still under grp 4 insurance and wee bit faster?

are you sure 1.4 8v is a straight swap? i looked into it, guy a www.findanengine.co.uk told me its not a straight swap...and tht theres alot of things different like the loom, ecu, drive shalf, gearbox etc etc

phrased that a bit misleading, You wont need any modifications like engine mounts etc but, u will need the 1.4 8v g/box, shafts, ecu. Think the loom should be ok. just a cheaper solution to the 16v

but to be honest id wait and get the 16v
