been pulled by cops saying my driver and passenger side windows are way to dark, they said they are taking me to court and said i will have 3 points put on my licence does anyone know if this is true about the points or are they taking the piss ,dont know wether to take them off or not looking for some advice please

you broke the law, no tints allowed in front windows at all unless fitted as standard. so unless you remove them they could fine you/add points to your lisence i believe

wot kind of tints u got wot % ?
becasue i got pulled a while ago when i first had my tints done, i argued with the officer about how legal they were and his partner told me i was correct due to the % how tinted they were and let me on my way

i thought you could have at most a 30% tint on your front windows.
u sure its illegal to have them on if they were not fitted as std?

they told me they should b 17.5% max they tested mine and they were 70% so by the sounds of things it was me who was taking the piss

The law as it currently stands is: Rear windows dark as you like, front side windows must let in 70% light, and the windscreen must let in 75% light. However your glass as standard probably doesnt let in 100% light so this where it can get tricky getting it right!
You would get a fine for it, not points.

I`m not sure about sunstrips, it does say that there are to be no tints forward of the B-Post so they maybe fall under that regulation aswell

to pass the MOT your wipers arent allowed to go over sunstrip, so get short wipers

just buy some tinted glasses!
then you can have the tinted effect whichever window you are looking through, car, your bedroom, someone elses bedroom!
