give it an oil flush, then flush it again... and again!!
Hardly any of the awful tappet noise on cold start, and runs a dream!!
Sod the labour involved in cleaning out the tappetts!
just make sure your oil is actually spotless clean!

remove rocker cover, n cams..... remove lifters...
soak in petrol overnight to clean, then soak in engine oil for a while.... then refit....
flushing oil through the engine wont really do much to them

It stopped the nasty rattling for now, and can imagine it has cleaned some gunk off the little diaphram bit, but obviously not gonna be as effective as doing it properly...

not a great fan of that engine flush shit as it fucked my first set of lifter and started leaks all over the place...
also i heard soaking it in petrol to unblock the pin hole in lifters is a bad idea its alright for a while then eventually it messes them up. I have never done this myself just heard it from someone i know who rebuilds these engines on a daily basis.

never actually used any engine flush either, just used up about £1000000 worth of Vaux oil, and every time I drained it came out that little bit cleaner!!
Its had about five/six oil changes in the last month, as the sump has been off as many times!! Just glad I wasnt the one paying for the oil
