Is there any reason to check the petrol cap? why would the garage bloke needed to have taken it off.

I was thinking (I know nowt about the mechanical side of cars) that the MOT was purely for safety, and the petrol cap wouldnt fall into that. i wondered why the bloke would have needed to have opened it, resulting in him snapping it? where theres blame, there's a claim

sounds like he has been driving around in it and filled it back up with petrol

he didnt even fill it up properly then, still nearly on empty. I dont know how many miles were on when i left it so i cant check though

The best bet would be to just confront him and if he gives u a stupid answer u know hes lying.

Funnily enough, his boss, whose a client of my fathers and the place i work, goes to my gym on a morning before work. I think a visit to the gym at 06:15 tomorrow might answer my question (or get him sacked ) either way im pissed off about it

your petrol cap must be lockable he would have been checking that it was working.

I thought they had to check that no fuel is leaking from the petrol cap? and that its not corroded?

Ah well if thats the case. I just wasnt sure what safety issue there'd be with the petrol cap cover.
