Ive seen with some people that they get an index page that just lists all the files that they have uploaded to the web space. Have these been created by the user, or by the host server automotically?

i wana know this too, but sometimes feel am glad i dont have it as got some dodgy stuff there

the hosting server can create this on the fly, but depends how its all set up etc

However, if you have ur own webserver/hosting with something like CPanel, then there are option to either show a listing of files (if there isnt an index page etc) or display a denied page etc

Web servers really should be set up with directory browsing turned off.
When it's on, you can browse all the files within a folder as described.

chance is they will have it turned off, in which case unless you can run some sort of server side scripting (like php, asp etc, which you cant on webspace given with ADSL etc) then theres no way of doing it

Arse . Just looked through the SSI scripts and its not available .
