You fill in the new details in section 7 of the V5 document. All you need to change are parts 24 and 28 which are the cylender capacity and engine number. Then send the form off to the DVLA. It takes them a week or so to process the differences.

They will send you a bill for the difference in tax you owe them as soo as you register the engine change.

That I don't know... I guess you pay the bill and they send you a new tax disk. Or you take the tax disk in to a post office and pay them the extra and they will give you a new tax disk. It's a bit illegal to drive the car taxed wrong though, they must have procedures to stop people doing it.

They'll still send you out the reminder... Not really sure how long it takes them to process the information though so it might still only say you owe them the lower ammount.

mine is booked as a 1.2...
They might ask for date when conversion was done, I will have to say lately or they might sting me for back tax....
It's insured as a 2.0 but need that v5 changed too...

my nova has an xe engine but is registered as a 1.6 as it used to have a gte engine in it. i cant read my engine number so cant change the doccy's but do you think it would matter since its in the right tax bracket anyway and insured as a 2.0? Was a 1.4SR to start with

also just thought i would just mention my mate has a mk2 fiesta 1.1 which it is on the doccy's but its actually a 4x4 fiesta cosworth so dunno what would happen if he was pulled over in it as they said nothing when he had an xr2 engine in it a yr ago. he is insured as he has a traders policy so thats the main thing

But doesn't an invalid V5 affect the validity of the insurance, whether the car is insured correctly or not?
