My valver appears to misfire a bit sometimes only after about a minute of running. I have replaced all sorts of things, but i want to test the coil pack now to put my mind at rest!

Any tips?

Thanks

If the engine is a late coil pack (non-dizzy) set up, then get a multimeter, and check the resitance across the power and the two ecu outputs, shoudl read in the reagion of 1kOhm for both, if one is signifiacntly idfferent it's not good.
Have you traced which cyl it's missfiring on?
Is it more when its damp or raining?

Thats helpful ta. I will test that method later.

I have no idea which cylinder it its, but it's not dependant on the weather.

I was thinking it might be the fuel pump too?

I've got no power coming from my coil, thinking it was due to a flat ish battery though and the starter was taking most of the power.

how does something to do with fuelling contribute to something on the ignition system?

There are only so many things ot go wrong,
coil it's self
connection
leads
plugs

that's about it, unless you want headgasket failure being blamed as it seems to be the blame of most things

power form the coil??

You shoudl have a 12v in, then 2 outs (grounds) the ecu controls.
although when the engine is running the p.d between the power in and ground out is almost 0volts.

I have replace the plugs, leads, sanded down all of the earths. So I don't think there's much more that can be done ignition wise.

The reason I suggested the fuel pump was because even when it's not misfiring, it feels flat or 'strangled'.

I'm going through one problem at a time!

changed the fuel filter yet?
Is it on a MPi pump?

is cam timing correct?

Changed the fuel filter last week.
As far as I know, it's on an mpi pump, but isn't there a small filter on the end of the pump? This maybe clogged?
I know the cam's are correct, timed the engine soooo many times. Plus the engine runs fine for the first minute! So it can't be them, because surely it would run slow all the time?

If the pre-pump filter/tea bag was clogged you hear the pump screaming away.
Take it the coolant temp has been swapped for a known to work one already.
And no ecu light or codes from the ecu?

As far as I ws aware you still have a hall sensor, becuase the engine needs one to run seqnetial injection.
so have a look round where the dizzy blank is, may just need a clean up as Venom said, removing will cause slight overfuelling and the ign to be retard causing the flatness maybe.
The tank vent will need cleaning, or by pass it if you never piped it in to the cansiter, just put a resitor across thats the correct resiatnce.
And code 31 always comes up, becuase the engine isn't running.
