Hi, i have just bought 2 8" sunvisor screens for my veccy, and want to use my slimline ps2 as the dvd player.

The problem is powering the ps2, i dont want to use an inverter because of the inteference and it seems pointless taking 12v up to 240v to bring it back down to 8.5v.

Does anyone know of an adaptor i can buy to run it off 12v directly? If not i was thinking making my own with a voltage regulator IC from maplin, but this would be tricky because they are only available in 8v/9v unless i buy a vairable one and mess around with resistors!

Any ideas?

The slim PS2 requires an 8.5 volt supply, and the 8.5 volt supply needs to give at least 5.3 amps (around 45 watts)

Finding a DC-DC convertor thats cheap and that can supply this amount of power is a right pain.

The only thing that comes close is this:

Yeah I'll hopefully get one of those! Hope it cuts out the nasty inteference that the invertor gives out

yeah it would. If you would have bought a true sine wave one thats about £80 u would have no interference at all. But this joytech one will sort you out
