I had 3 different ICV on my silver Corsa, when the last one was fitted they updated the software on my ECU and it never went wrong again.

i am on my original one in a 7 year old car, and had car 3yrs

had problems and been told by people on here on about 3 different occasions to change ICV (not cheap)

didn't do it, got professional advice, and sorted it out, each time the ICV has not been at fault.

i just think alot of people are told crap advice on CS, and if you don't know much about cars etc then people take it as gospel

i've changed my ICV a couple of times, problem is i think when people change them they get them from a scrappy rather than new, which means they will have a small shelf life

very true that.

My advice would also to block the shitty EGR valve off as that can contribute alot to idle problems, etc

Mine was starting to get stupid went from not idling to not starting at all. Blocked the egr valve off with a plate that bloody vauxhall actually sell (says alot about the egr valve doesnt it really) and a new ICV. Whacked it all in and wahey a nice idling easy to start car.
