hi, the battery in my corsa isnt holding its charge, ive tried both batteries that i have at home which are fine and they go flat fairly quickly.
Obviously its linked to the charging system but is there a way of testing the alternator or is it easy to change it over (i have a spare one from the old engine) Also wheres the best place to start looking in the engine bay for a short in a wire or something like that?

bang a multimeter on the + and - and rev it up, see if the voltage goes up or not

or just do what dan says and put multi meter across battery, it should read between 13 and 14.5 volts. if its around 12 its not chraging
