I have ADSL in a house in Spain. The network is Telefonica that i use it with
Will a british ADSL modem work on their line? Tried a few computer shops and no-one seems to know :S

Should work fine, but you'll likely need to change the VPI/VCI (Virtual Path/Channel Identifier) settings to those that Spain uses on their ADSL network (ask Telefonica).

it depends on the modem, does the modem power from your usb port?? or from the mains??
if from the mains no, cuz they have 110 volts in spain,
otherwise yeh will work fine, just make sure u set the correct VPI VCI values
