ok i have 2 PCs, one laptop and my car pc (laptop bits in a mini-itx case)

i also have a broadband modem on one pc

what do i need for wireless network to work?

1 desktop wireless card for bedroom pc
1 wire from modem to downstairs pc
2 laptop cards for laptop and car pc
and a wireless modem/router?

anyone post their configurations up please? all running on xp pro cheers

Get 1 Wireless router and then get 2 USB dongles, easy peasy

Modem connects to the router but otherwise, yes.

Or is that two PCs plus a laptop plus the car = 4 computers?

Either way card for each, plus the router.

Belkin wireless router, 2 pc linked to that via cat5 cable, wireless PDA, usbWIFi adapter in car pc.

yes ian, 4 PCs in total

i think the usb one will be used in my car as it has no slots left for cards, and then a car like this one in laptop:

anyone know a good router? how the hell does it connect to (free standing NTL) modem?

and how do the computers talk to each other? thru router?

yea routers "ROUTE" all the signals between the pc's see what they've done there...... router see...... route(r)

im just playin

will it connect to a PC with a modem connected or connect to the modem itself?

i DONT want one where u need to have a pc one that is connected to the net to access the net on any other pc

make sense?

yea looks like that one will just 'broadcast' the net independently of the main pc being on or not.....

if thats what you mean?

I've got a Linksys wireless G broadband router/modem thing, it works in any part of the house with no loss of signal!

Just buy a router with a built-in modem.

With ntl u buy a cable router and then get rid of your ntl box, thats what i am using.
