Corsas and Astras with this means that they benefit from 'improved fuel economy'

If its what i think it is then is something like:
You have two ports on the inlet manifold. While aunty ethil potters around doing her daily run around, only one will ever open. But when her grandson Dave the chav, lends the car on a weekend to pick up his 14 year old girlfriend and take her to the local teenyboppers club, when he floors it, both ports open up.
Basically a way of saving fuel, but improving air flow i think. Im sure Twin choke carbs used to do something similar .

So it has two inlet ports per cylinder in the inlet manifold rather than 1.
So in other words its pointless.

But the 0-60 and top speeds remain the same on the SXi & SRi models.

Is that not good if it saves fuel though?

Im not stickin up for it anyway, im told its meant to be really weird to drive almost as if its holdin back until you put the boot down

The twinport 1.4's are actually the same speed and BHP as the older ones. They completely redesigned the engine, as there a different CC compared to the older model.
