the temperature reading on dash is wrong.
it used to read fine, but now is erm... not.
what do i look for and where?

on an XE btw.

it'll be a boogered sensor unless it
a doesnt work at all or b reads full all the time, then theres an open/short circuit

its under reading now.
used to read a little above 90 and hits somewhere in the middle when its warm (fan kicks in)
now it reads under 90 all the time and creeps a up a little over 90 when warm, so no fan.

ps. i'm shit with engines

sounds like its actually running cold then... the fan is on a totally seperate switch to the gauge

is ur thermostat fucked cos it menat to stop the coolnt goin to the rad when cold but is its stuck open u would have more collont pumping round tehre fore it may be struggling to heat up, just an idea

rip it out and chuck it a a pan of boiling water to see if it expands

under the stat there are two sensors. big 2pin one is coolant temp sensor for the ecu signal. small 1pin one is dash temp sender; just a spade connector (blue wire).

try cleaning the connection first. if that doesn't help, take the stat out and make sure it's closed. if it's open while it's cool, then it needs replacing.

gave the connectors a quick clean.
not worked.

fan isn't working properly now.
