probably wonjt work with 17s without arch work, handling wouldnt be great but that is because they are 17s more than the offset?

no, i think u would need to go the other way with them? I may be wrong but et40 will bring the wheel further out and this means u would need to get part of the inside of the alloy skimmed off to bring them closer in? I will go double check this tho

Spacers reduce the offset, 5mm spacers on ET40 wheels is ET35.

The car will handle like shit, being 17" won't help matters.

So in theory skimming the wheels would increase the offfset by a few mm?

It would decrease it as the ET49 figure is a negative value.

curious, why would it handle worse if the offset is lower than 49?

The car's been designed with negative scrub geometry in mind. Supposed to help when you've got a blow out and other times of crisis, but increasing the track seems to give the little cars more of an excuse to tramline all over the road.

+4mm / -1mm

To clear bodywork:
angle grinder

dont want to be a spaz but im a bit confused about offset etc is it to do with the shape of the wheel and how far it sits away from the hub or is it something that you can adjust in and out? im presuming its the first going by the diagram posted by slugger_54132

BTW sorry if im hijacking the post a little

cheers gavin
