The wire idea sounds about the best. you can get very small Cable ties, like whats been used on the exhaust by the looks of it.

Still make me chuckle how they can use plastic/rubber exhaust pipes .

my exhaust is metal apart from the clear plastic thing holding it together, the black manifold is metal
