Oh for the love of god, thats not the EGR valve its the secondary air pump which leaves the hole in the exhaust manifold.

You need a pear shaped piece of metal and a bolt to hold it in position, I done my recently.

EGR valve is on the back of the engine near the inlet manifold

C16XE manifold just to stop people getting confused.

Grigglet just get a pear shaped piece of metal and a bolt and secure the metal over the hole and that will do.

no beacause all the seconadry air pump does is too warm the cat up quicker on start up to reduce emisions.

Emisions on the MOT are only tested once the engine is up to operating tempreature

My car passed emissions with flying colours, even though my car was tested on 1985 emission standards

Infact my car has probably got lower on emissions since its introduction in 85

Vauxhall sell these! and their about £4 for a genuine one

Just ask them to show you the EGR valve on the parts computer and it should be shown on the screen. I did have a part number but dont have it now. sum1 on here did give me it though so hopefully they will reply!
