Hi everyone, mates corsa making a winding noise while moving. Dosent make the noise if you coast it so thinking its the gearbox but he's hoping not! Get back to me plz.. Cheers

check the oil level in the gearbox
also...
when standing still & in neutral, does it make the noise depending if the clutch is pressed or not??

if the whine is dependant on clutch pressed/not pressed then could well be

mine whines as soon as i touch the clutch u think it could be bearings an r they dear/hard 2 replace?

mine whines as it goes along. Probably never had a gearbox oil service in its life.

if it is a clutch release bearing then it might go... they tend to whine then go quiet for a little while before whining again lol. Gearbox oil change is fairly simple, take off the bottom gearbox plate and get yer arm covered in oil, wipe it clean, put it back on then re-fill with i think 1.8litres from the top

Cheers, yeh sounds like it could be the gearbox oil then, dosent seem to whine when the clutch is down jus when mobing in gear... will get one of mates to change it for me. Also, ive heard its really easy to swap a nova 1.2 engine for a 1.4? Thinking of trying it tmoro? Any advice? Cheers
