Pressed onto the front of the engine on the side where the gearbox bolts on.

all i do then is give the dvla that number so my car will be registered as 2.0 16v?

whats the best way/method of getting it if you cant read it?? tryed gunk etc allready

taken a look and there's no number there. it doesn't look like its been rubbed off but there's not a lot of gunk there! i got a number underneath the manifold r9* 2** 9**, is this the one? any other way of finding the engine number ?

i've cleaned it all up and can only see the last 2 numbers so i cant get the engine number! how can i go about registering the engine with the dvla? i have been told you can put illegible in the engine number box on the dvla form but need this confirmed? anyone shed any light?

Does it look like it has been ground off? 
You need to phone te DVLA about the illegable thing.

called the dvla and all i need to send is the details of the engine and proof it has been put in my car
