they will do credit checks and you have to be on the electoral roll at a uk address to get a phone on contract in the first place
doubt they will send it to malta

basically even if u sell the phone and destroy the sim, the contract with the network still exists, and your tied in for the duration of that contract, regardless of usage.

people who are none uk residents can still get mobile phone contracts however it is subject to the usual credit checks run also you need to be in the country for a minimum of i think it i 12 month to actually be accepted mainly used for students from other countries living in the uk.
you need to be in the country to actually get the phone contract, once you sign up for the contract you are then locked into 12 month contract even if you destroy the sim you still need to pay the monthly line rental, regardless of the direct debit being cancelled extra. used to get that all the time at work people saying they will not pay there phone bill as they are just canceling there dd, however, what people dont relize is if you do not pay the contract, the phone company will then cancel the contract charge you all of the line rental up-front, if you still do not pay they write the debt off to a debt collection agency and then its up to the collection agency to make you pay up, after a while they send the balifs round to your house, nd also it goes as a default on your credit refrence so its hard to get another mobile phone.
putting is simple, no you cant just get a phone and then not pay for the contract.
