As we started to strip my mates 2.1 XE for a full rebuild we noticed something rather unusual! and itd been running like this for quite a while

it was like this in stages all the way round the belt! any ideas on what might have caused it? i was a mechanic and ive never seen anything like it only on belts that had actually broke. like i said.. lucky

mine did a similar thing when the cambelt tensioner came loose

The belt could have been to tight.

On my old Calibra Turbo when i first bought it - i did the cam belt and water pump. Good job i did - the belt was slipping because the water pump was wrong. Bits of belt i found everywhere it was on the verge of snapping.
