Are these expensive to change?

mine maybe gone as apparently my cars burning oil with the petrol, hence me having to top my oil up quite often.

u wud have to change most of the gaskets in the engine so would cost a fair bit. are you sure its piston rings? 1.6 16v's are prone to stem seals and they also burn a lot of oil if driven hard all the time

car has 60k on, this is what ive heard possibly a problem over a phone .

have a mechanic coming out at the wkend to do my tappets for me (really loud) so may ask him what he thinks.

nope

just a small amount of white stuff when cold for a few minutes.

i can smell the engine burning the oil slightyly but did spill some on my gasket when i topped it up.

tappets???? only thing you can do on the 16v sport is replace them, cams out remove and replace, or if you're lucky they'll clean
