I have had a case with motherboard and processor in my room for ages and have decided to rebuild it.
I has no CD drive or hard drive and no memory. I dont know what processor it is either, all i can make out is its an Athlon.
With do i need to know about the motherboard to be able to get some memory/CD drive/ Hard drive? or is it better to buy a new motherboard?

Any IDE cd drive and harddrive should fit.
Depending on age it'll be some SD 133 or DDR 2100 most likley memory but take a stick out and go to local computer shop and they'll sell you one of the same type.

Yeah probably IDE harddrive and 133 DIMMS but you'll need to get a proper answer before spending money, could you take a pic of the board or something?

There has to be memory.
It wouldn't work if there wasn't.
Get a picture.

Also, post any codes you can find on the motherboard itself, that should help to identify what it is (and, through that, what kind of memory you'll need to use, etc)...

Yeah not a bad board.
Maybe 25 quid on RAM and maybe 35-40 on the hard drive. Doesn't really need a CD drive as you can borrow one for the install and take it out again - its got LAN on board so you can get other data in that way.

I think that is right, check with them. Thats got two plugs on so you could get away with only buying one.
