Thinking about upgrading from my Fuji F710 and facied the look of the Nikon D50.

What are you opinions on the camera?

I just learning so what does 18mm-55mm lens mean, what's that is optical zoom terms?

Im also in the market for one of these atm, seems to be a lot of deals about as well.

an 18-55 lens is a 3x zoom lens but thats just a focal length thing. a 100-300mm lens is also a 3x zoom.

the other thing you'll notice is the f3.5-5-6 bit. thats the maximum aperture of the lens at the min and max focal length. so at 18mm the max is f3.5 while at 55mm the max is f5.6. aperture is related to the width of the opening and the focal length

Objective Focal Length / Objective Diameter. Example: A 2000 mm focal length telescope that has 200 mm (8 inch) diameter yields a value of f/10.
