i have a 3123 prices i need to work out what they are less 40%. for example what 32.58 would be less 40%. I looked on the internet for a tutorial and got the equation =E1/B2 with E1 being 40% and B2 being 32.58, but thats wrong as it returns 1.23%. It should be 19.55.

try E1 = 0.6

=E1-(E1*$B$2)

Store the percentage as 0.4 and format as percent.

oops, im completely wrong i acatully need it to add 17.5% to everything in column C, then display the answer in column D. Ive got 17.5% in E1.

Try this. This is the way i would do it anyway....



Put the equation into D1 and put $ signs on E1 like i've done, then you can drag it down to get the answer for all cells.

=(click on cell)+17.5%

then copy and paste for the rest of em
