Hi guys,

I'm having trouble with my dvd player and the sound from it. I can here feedback from (i assume) the altenator as it changes pitch on acceleration

When the engine is running I'm getting noise over the Stereo, firstly I re-wired the dvd and it is wired to a good earth and live, still got the problem,

So i thought then that i would plug a Personal CD player into the AUX in and this plays perfectly fine over no noise at all,

Then I plugged some headphones into the dvd player which to my surprise play perfectly fine also,

I have got a ferite ring and passed the cable through this (bound it round once also, which helped a little.

I assume that the next step would be to get a surpessor?

but where would I install it and what supressor would I need?

Ok so your options are:

1. Shielded RCA's

2. If that doesnt work, fit a noise supressor to the RCA'S

http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=33172&doy=6m11

OR

fit one of these http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2917.html

to whatever live is powering your stereo and dvd player.

Cheers

I've just noticed that it doesnt come out of any speakers running from an amp! only my door speakers which are running from the HU,

so its looking like the best option is getting the autoleads supressor?

I just checked again this morning, and the noise is still there when the dvd player is turned off, and the stereo is in AUX mode, you can still hear the noise, its a pioneer HU btw

been messing again lol!! it must be the dvd player, because if i disconnect the RCA coming from the dvd player it stops making the noise, but when connecting the rca's backup, all I need is the centre pin connected in order for it too make the noise, and the noise doesnt change when they are connected all the way,

is the centre pin in an RCA earth or live?

it is live i found from another site.

Another intresting one.

If the DVD player is switched off (I have an external switch in the live wire) and the HU is on AUX when the engine is running you get the noise... and the moment you unplug either the RCA's or power from the DVD player the noise stops.

this suggests to me that it is coming from the earth? so I'm going to try running an earth direct from the battery seeing what happens, and if that doesnt work then i'm looking at the ground loop isolator?? from maplins above?
