Quick Q about XE insurance
is it cheaper to insure a Corsa 1.2 LS with and XE engine conversion or a Corsa GSi with the same engine conversion?
Shouldnt it be the same price as theyre both the same speed / bhp

if u put a gsi kit on the 1.2 then the insurance will b more as the gsi's kit is std 2that model. i would think gsi then xe would b slightly more as ur startin wit a car wit a beta spec.

Depends on the company. Some may value it as original group plus a few, in which case the LS converted would of course be cheaper. Some may say its same speed therefore same risk.

tesco's is power increase i think so 110 to 150 isnt as big an increase as 45 to 150 so GSi dosnt go up as much but is dearer to start with

The company i'm with take the car that the engine was originally in, then add an insurance group. So Astra GSi, group 15 becomes group 16 in a corsa

i had major issues with mine, as its a 1.2 on the log book and has gone from 60-160 bhp,
most insurance companies wont insure over 100% power increase

i think personally though, a 1.2 with an xe in should cost more to insure than a gsi with an xe in.
say the 1200 was your first car, enver drove anything fast and then put an xe in it well dangerous. 100bhp is a canny whack of power increase.

My company (llyods TSB) go on the car its in and have the conversion down as a mod, thats why they wont insure me on my 106 as its too high an insurance group!!!!

see, thats no clever policy at all as your more likely to stuff an xe corsa or nova than a 106, all that weight over front wheels sliding out round corners etc.
