Cav SRi had two types of 2.0 8v engine which one are you refering to?

An early one then

The Astra has a x20xev - 136bhp.

On the road - would be down to the driver - weight is not much different.

Thats right mate, and from what you said about the Pug and the rear world difference with the Ecotec 2ltr i think im going with the 8v and gona mild tune it. Prob get it running as close to new as poss with a few extras here and there to boost Bhp+0-60 a little.

but why would they want to drop the power? 130bhp i would think would be the min amount of power you would want to get from a 2ltr

Because the management system they were using was very dated.
Thats about it - does it really matter you know what you want so get on with it!
