if you took a car that was messed up, i.e some dodgy wiring, ecu under the dash, had an engine conversion etc to a garage, they didnt bother looking it through and just checked condition of exterior etc

and then take the car in as a trade for another one

would they have anything to come back on? once they find its fucked?

You can trade in a car of any condition at a garage, it's just it will be worth less as a deposit...

so i could basically take my car in, they tell me its worth so much, then the deals done?

i then drive off my newer car and dont have to worry about the faults with the old one?

what are the chances they will check everything?

as when my sister traded hers, they only even looked from a distance and gave her a price!

would i need to tell them its had an engine conversion? or is that up to them to find out also

garages r all different. sometimes they will never look at the car they r buying from u and others check them for 30mins

oh and what happens about milage?

as i had 1 litre 12v clocks so i had to change them and now it states less miles than the last MOT!

Its illegal to not indicate that the mileage is wrong.

Normally they're not too bothered if its going to auction, which most older stuff would.

You're putting mileage on not taking it off. If its not thousands take the gearbox sender out and attach it to a drill.

70,000 miles or 5 years old normally.

9000 is too much

Thats 45 hours at 200mph

Can you get the clocks out of the dash? Its not hard but if you're not confident you really need to get someone who does mileage correct to assist rather than break it.

i can get the clocks out of the dash yes

also another thing

if they dont check it out then it wont matter if some interior parts are missing will it lol

like the plastic surround near the steering wheel and infront of the clocks, and rood handles etc either

I traded my Saxo in but when he looked at it he asked if i was leaving the alloys on. So me wanting as much as i can possibly get for it says yes. Took them off before i handed it over and he never said a word

im hoping for someone that will just look at the outside without going under the bonnet and inside!

this way i should get an ok amount

thats if i actually go ahead with it once i have had the corsa fixed!

but knowing me ill probs end up keeping it

if i dont however, i shall be getting another corsa, or a mk4 astra

All the cars i've traded in, it has always been the sales person who looked at the car. They have just taken the details, MOT, SH, miles, etc and looked around the car. Never have they got any of them on ramps.
