my computer went tits up so totally started afresh and installed windows again
i now have no sound and only two options for the screen resoloution and both are shit
so im trying to get a intel media accelerator 900
found this one
but keep getting this upon set up
any help is greatly appreciated

er mate cant see the pic but it sounds like you do not have the correct driver software installed for you system, when you got it did you have a cd that says something like "system cd" if you do stick that in and install the sound card and graphics card drivers. if you built it your self, find what the drivers are and install them.
or if you already knew this it was a waste of time reading

il have a check for the cd, on the tower it says intel graphics media accelerator 900
its an emachine5260

best guess its the wrong type of driver, but yeah if u find the driver cd your laughing.

iv got the sound card I need, only problem i need windows sp2 for it to work
and sp2 wont install cause of my cd codes for my xp disc
what do i do?

run windows update - that should detect your graphics and install a driver for it (normally).
as for your sound - pretty much the same.
i doubt very much any sound card NEEDS XP SP2. If anything it might not work with SP2 - especially if its old.
Failing that go to the manufacturers website and see if you can find the drivers you need.

take the side of the machine off, write down whatever the sound card says on the board and google it
