got the possibility of getting a mates fcuked corsa sri, n reg and my boss has a gsi engine from a corsa sitting in his unfinished nova project
would it be advised to fit the gsi into the sri, insurnace is my main thought at the moment as it would be my first car
sri engine is a tad thrashed so wouldnt want to fix it up
also, how safe would it be to insure it as an sri?

How old are you?
If your 17/18 you will struggle to insure a 1.6 GSi converted SRi.
As for insuring it as an SRi, why not just not bother at all - your insurance will be invalid anyway

You'd never insure a gsi, but the engines are identical in looks, so you could get away with it.
Insurance on an SRi isn't much, i had one as my first car.

was just gathering views as i know many people on here wouldve had experience
it was a thought because i can get the sri fairly cheap, if not free as hes being hassled to remove it from the ground it sits on etc

that in ur own name? seems fairly cheap for a new driver
but ye, engines look identical so u could get away with it, but make sure the gsi engine actually works for obviously. and how cheap r u gettin this car for cos corsa are very cheap now with engines already in them

If you can insure an SRi, nevermind a GSi you'll be veeeerrryyy lucky.
The cheapest quote TPFT I got for my 12v corsa was £1400

Im in the best postcode rated area so its nothing to do with that.
Somehow you've managed to get a very cheap qoute for an SRi, but tbh mate, ill believe it when I see it.
If you were willing to lie about the size of the engine, who know what else you've told em'
Good luck anyhow

I had a 1.4 16v sport as my first car cost me £1195 to insure in my own name, £540 for the second year.
