Author has any used padding over the rear axle to soften the noise of the exhaust hittin axle?????

since lowered the car to 60mm on 17s my zorst hits the axle on every bump an sumtimes wen its cold!

iv looked this problem up an i see alot of u say loosen bracket an twist the pipe but i cant do this as i hav a duplex so i hav bin thinkin bout makin a cushion out of the leather i hav off the calibra door cards im not using an filled them with the paddin off the door cards too then wrappin this around the axle.

have any of you tried this???? dus it work???? do u recon the leather will burn????

any suggestions wud b appreciated

I guarantee the leather will burn

I think you should take your car back to wherever made the exhasut and tell them to try again

My mate had a duplex exhaust on his corsa B and had no problems like you describe.

I did this with sponge worked for a while when i dropped mine by 60mm

Cushion sounds a bit stupid IMHO
could try welding a couple of small springs on the axle or exhaust to stop it hitting might not work but just an idea

its not the exhaust mat cos the pipe is as high as it ill go its snugg to the body of the car

im gonna try get hold of sum heat resistant material they used to sel to put between kitchen tables an kitchen table clothes an make a suhion out of that

i know im not goin to get rid of the knockin i just wanna soften the noise

alot of other people hav used tires matey so a cushion is exactly the same its just sumthin to soften the knockin noise

i also have this prob but with my standadard exhaust. i shall jack her up at weekend and see what i can bodge up to try and stop this bang, clonk, bang!

i wrapped a few things round mine, tried exhaust rubber than burnt and fell off, then tried an exhaust bandage believe it or not that burnt or worse through in the end just lifted the exhaust higher in the end with diff hangers

I just thought i'd rather have a nice little platform with a spring or two welded to it rather than a bit of tyre glued to my axel.
Hell it might not work but would be a much better solution if it did!

was part of a heat proof blanket that used to be under my bonnet vent, got it from demon tweaks.

if you got smaller bungs would that not hold the exhaust higher and hold it off the axle

nope there small bungs as it is just gonna hv to get it up in the air sumtime an hav a proper luk at it, just a bitch to jack up cos once iv finally got the jack under the car theres no room to use the handle to jack it up

its so much easier to slacken the exhaust clamps and adjust it so as it fits correct, sod the bodgin do it properly
