network connections, right click on the connection you want to share, properties tab.
Its in there.

Cheers mate found it about 2 minutes after i made this post
Trying to get my xbox to share my internet connection through my laptop but its having none of it
Looks im going to have to get 10m of rj45 or fork out £50 for Microshafts wireless connector

It'll be crossover cable you need to use it via your laptop.
Check you aren't using a bit of straight through.

indeed, it would have to be cross over.
one other option is either buy a switch/hub or a router (router would be best bet).
