on pure precessing power no. PS3 has the edge, but it all depends on game developers.

360 has better online play, dolby chip

yes and you should listen to what THEY say.

That would mean the PS3 has 10 teraflops

the GPU alone is capable of 2t'flops, IBM Core is established at around 218g'flops.

I have no doubt the PS3 will be more powerfull, and im no xbox fan boy

Im just saying that it wount be 10x faster, althoug the GPU is stupidly powerfull and all the video you see will be prerendered

indeed, not 10 times faster, thats mainframe territory. however it will be phenomenally powerful, and i expect to see the first uses of proper Artificial Intelligence, and more lifelike rendering

Ive see some stuff from activision and EA. And im verry impressed. but it doesnt matter how good it looks, you cant polish a turd. If they companies dont get the support then it will be another PS2, producing 100 absolute turd games to every 1 good one (the one gripe i have with the PS2)

And the proposed lack luster effort at online play

online play will be the pinnacle of the next gen consoles IMO, Sony and MS need to tap into that huge online arena that PC users dominate at the moment

The cell processor in the ps3 is indeed a very powerfull chip.
Unfortunately its better at other things primarily before graphics.
Its also apparently extremely hard to develop for to get the best out of it.
IMO the abox will probably have the edge on how good the games look for quite a while till they can be annoyed developing the ps3 games properly.

Cell is simply for providing some muscle, and juggling about tasks like realtime T&L, AI control and thought processes. The real power and trickery comes from its 1.8 TFlop graphics processor

Anyone think theyre getting too big for their boots with all these impressive hardware specifications.

I highly doubt game designers were making the most out of the original Xbox' resources when the 360 was released, game developers cant keep up with these powerboxes. Overkill comes to mind

Kinda like the PS2... said it could render the full quality of the pod race from starwars episode 1 in realtime... oh how much that was bullshit!
