SPEAK to me bitch!

were not using ford gear as were using the s2k engine and 6 speed box rather than the type 9 box. cos we want to be difficult!

Really depends what engine you want mate though?
Xe is a good one, will use the type 9 box. You can retain the box all you need to change is the engine and bellhousing. Regarding it has custom ecu then the wiring shouldnt be much different but will need adapting for the different sensor types.

Really depends on budget here. I could ramble on about the dax and the camber compensating suspension but unless you have 15k+ then dont bother!

Most people buy a 2nd hand kit and then swap engines etc.
Buy kitcar mag its called just that. has a huge classifieds section in the back.

If you fancy a stuart taylor with a 1600 4age engine at 170bhp then we are selling ours which is the raw race engines and stuart taylor ex press car not sure on price but 7k region i would have thought!
Thats running omex, spa dash setup, and has a new diff for some crazy 0-100 stuff!

pics:

its that exact car!

brad - thats more than i'm wanting to spend.

I want the hassle of building it etc, so idealy i'm looking for a kit (purchase chassis complete) or a rolling shell that i can just pop my engine into.... and change the rest as i go.

My dads mate has just build a MK indy with an r1 engine.
There a step between the locost style of heavy box section and 15 year old engineering and that of the latest dax/westfield/caterhams

I would definately recomend them.
I would say if you use the corsa engine and mangement, you could build the car for what 4k to a high spec, wilwoods all round, good diff, nice seats and dash unit, good lightweight wheels
you have what 3k worth of engine and mangement to go in there as well!

3k worth in parts maybe

sounds like a plan to think about.... a simmering plan, not a jump in and do it one

Need to get the engine running 100% etc and get some real use out of the corsa

My concern on buying a rolling shell is whats the previous life been like. Some people build the cars on a budget and half of them are not safe to be on the road really.

I would personally prefer an MK indy, with as many new parts, all new nuts bolts everything as i can allow within my budget.
For 4k you could have a very fast kit car with your engine setup. The key is in the right diff. The type 9 box will be much the same between boxes but the diff ratio transforms the car.
I cant remember the ratios but our old diff was good was a balance between acceleration and top speed of what 140mph

we realised 140mph is rarely used once at snetterton i think
so we changed it. Now 0-60 is probably 1 sec faster and coming out of corners the power really gets put down that much faster and its so much more fun to drive!
