hey.
Im looking at getting this SRi i have seen thing is i am worried it may drink fuel like a russian drinking vodka.

Its got a straight through decat does that make a difference to fuel consumption?

it also has racing cams, pressure boost valve, ecot ecu valve (what ever that is), jam air induction kit, big inductions valves and gas flowed heads.

How much do you htink it'll drink?

Liam

i suppose its only resonable that this moded engine would use more juice than a std sri. Still should'nt be "too" bad.

ECU could prob do with a remap, as it prob is'nt setup properly for the cams and so on, maybe thats why its as hard to run as you say it is

PBV - won't make much difference, as this is basically the same as what you get with the standard

What about on fuel?

I gathered that its only 17s that make a difference to your speedo, cause this one has 16s on it.

Just asking all the questions cause this will be the first car i have bought, cause my parents paid the first one and that ended up in a lamp post.

Mine is on 16"s and i noticed the difference with the de-cat, its a bit more responsive of the mark.

Fuel is not too bad, didn't make much difference as I got it tuned up after (emissions)

it WIL drink more than a standard one. Don't know how much more. The mods carried out are'nt same as std. The 1.4 mpi head had enlarged valves as std, but he says it now has even bigger inlet valves. The cams will contirbute, depending on how big there are 285/295? As you can see this mods did'nt come std, altough maybe stuff like the airfilter, p+p head, boost pressure valve will not make much difference on fuel comsumption. It will remain to see when your drivng around town just how much harder she is on juice, plus the highlift cams are at their worst around traffic for drinking fuel.

any modified engine will use a bit more fuel compared to standard, especially if its not mapped properly.

if mapped properly you can get better fuel consumption then a standard car as long as you drive it sensibly. i get 36-38 mpg fprm my 170bhp x16xe. thats better than my 1.4 16v sport with a standard engine!

I can't imagine a de-cat would make any noticable difference to the MPG. In ways it may help the engine to run more efficently, since it make the exhaust therefore the engine less restircted. But either way its not going to be a big difference
