Should the top mount pivot independantly from the piston rod, spring and body etc.
Just fitted a set of highsports to the other halfs Corsa but when i bolt the topmount down the bearing makes the whole topmount and piston rod pivot? leaving the spring and body in place? Is this normal. Its been a few years since i did vaux suspension. Just want to know if thats right as i would have thought the piston shouldn't pivot inside the damper body?!
Quick reply please

yes they do turn you need to hold the top bit above the bolt with pliers or something to stop the whole piston turning and tighten the bolt up

Im refering to normal operation.
When turn lock to lock the topmount is stationary, the piston rod is stationary but the damper body and spring pivot with the hub carrier.
