my 1.6 16v corsa sport was on 17's, and i couldnt keep up with my brother's 1.4 8v on the straights when he was on 14's
put my 14's back on, and i left him!

175/65 14 tyre has a rollinr radius of 14x 25.4 + 2(0.65x175) which is 583.10mm. this is the ideal as it wont throw your speedo out.
17 inch rim is 431.8 leaving 151.3mm for tyre sidewall.
you wont find many 17s tht are less than 7 inches wide, and no one runs tyres narrower than 195.
151.3/2 is 75.65mm sidewall, which is 39% of 195.
So, best case you can get them to match if you use 40 profiles on a 195 tyre on a 7 inch rim with the correct offset.
Now look at the folk running 17s, who has et49, who has a 7 inch rim or narrower, who runs 195s? anything wider then 195 and your looking at 35 profiles which are expensive and ride terribly (IMO I wouldnt have 40, but there you go!)
With 18s youre down to 30 profiles, and 19s are simply impossible without roayally screwing everything!
