I've finally had enough of my Compaq Presario and its Celeron processor. It really has been 3 years of troublesome/slow computing!
I'm seriously considering buying the following:
Sony Vaio FE11H Core Duo
Intel Centrino Core Duo T2300 Processor 1.66GHz
1GB DDR2 SDRAM
100GB Hard Drive
DVD Dual Layer Drive - To read DVDs and CDs and write CDs, DVD+, DVD- and large Dual Layer DVD
15.4" XGA X-Black Widescreen TFT Screen
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 256MB TurboCache graphics (128MB Dedicated, up to 128MB Shared)
Integrated wireless 802.11b/g LAN
Integrated 7-in-1 card reader – reads Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo, MultiMediaCard, SD Memory Card, SmartMedia Card and XD Picture Card
Microsoft Windows XP Media Centre Edition Pre Loaded
I've seen for around £990.

get the old PowerVR ones if you are going to get one, the new ones are shite to say the least!
But yea the specs look alright, though a bit pricey, but thats because its a due core. I would look at sticking with a single core cpu, would work out cheaper and unless you're thinking about doing anything serious with it then i wouldnt bother!

see, if they still had the old PowerVRs i could argue the toss about it all day - mainly because they were considered faster (RISC) instead of x86 systems (CISC) for raw processing power. Hence why a lot of software was mac only at some point.
However, the new intels are shocking - not worth the money considering your just getting a pc in a different box. I can run OSX on my pc, so why should i spend 1500 quid on a mac
back on topic though -
flat4 surely if you get a bigger screen and printer with it, its worth getting than paying the same with less
you could even sell the printer on ebay afterwards!

its still a laptop though, just slightly bigger plus the difference between 15 and 17 wouldnt be noticable with most laptops, so iwouldnt worry about it
