Hey Guys. I dont mean to be a pest here and i know there's been many posts like this but could anyone help me out and tell me what gain roughly i would get to my 1.4 16v sport if i added the following:
New Cams
Re-map
Stainless Steel Exhaust (powerflow)
Pipercross Induction Kit
Chip
Cheers and dont mean to get anyone annoyed with how many times this has been asked.

spend the money on an inlet manifold! trust me it will be money well spent. then you can go for cams etc if you want. look on ebay, £100 jobbies will do it.

You might get 15bhp at a guess. Bear in mind that changing cam profile's will compromise the car's power delivery.

I have an X16XE with a Mantzel.
It was the first thing i did to the engine as the standard inlet is poop. Does make quite a difference, but there is not much under 5K. Other than that, TB's or carbs are the way forward.
Pretty pointless tuning the smallblock XE's without binning the standard inlet IMO.

A chip and a re-map?
What you should get is, (depending on how much money you want to spend/waste)
A new inlet manifold,
Some new cams and a Unichip, along with a rolling road session to set the Unichip up.
A larger bore exhaust system, plus another re-map on the Unichip.
A 4-2-1 exhaust manifold with another re-map.

new inlet (dbilas or mantzel)
headwork
arp rod bolts
sbd rollers
remap with 7400 rev limit
4-2-1 manifold
decent exhaust
panel filter in standard airbox
enlarged throttle body
should see close to 145-150 bhp on an x16xe with that (thats what i got before i went onto omex management then with a few more tweeks made 155bhp)
dont bother with cams at this stage, push the power too far up the rev range to be 'usable' im running 169 bhp on throttle bodies now on standard cams, its all in the mapping. with cams im hoping for a figure of around 185.

never understood why people claim that air filters and exhausts require a re-map. exhausts very rarely affect the fuelling and timing requirements.

only way on an x16xe or 14xe engine that a 4-2-1 is really needed is with head work and inlet mods. people often just bolt the manifold on, to get the gians from it you need to flow it to the head!
