I wish people would stop saying get a proper browser then linking firefox.
The only good bit about firefox is the easy plugins.
Its not even faster than IE.
Opera is a proper browser.
Yes my IE does that stupid activex box now.
Its annoying.
I'll try lowering the security level, I didn't even think it would be that because mine is low already.

tbh i never get these pop-ups in firefox...

I still prefer firefoz over any other browser. Use firetune to fire it up

as for the pop-ups in IE try this link:

Its not a pop up abdus, when you try to watch a video on youtube or something similar, or play a flash game, you need to click on it to be able to use it.
Its just an extra click for security but it is quite annoying.
I though it was just the new beat of ie7.

Aye after steve mentioned security settings I've turned mine down.
Not been to a site to try it yet though.
I normally have settings down low anyway but they make it more awkward every time.

ah ok...no i don't think it's the new ie7 which i also use...which is a bit of some firefox tabbed browsing

IE is coming up again esp with the new layout which is nice but it's still beta

as steve mentioned, maybe it has to do with security levels. I have yet to get these kind of problems though.

You have to enable a couple of run activex control bits in the security settings.
I just enabled a few and it works now.

But Firefox never does any silly crap you don't want it to. You can use the tabbed browsing feature which is very useful, so is page search, so is the google bpx in the corner, so is........................

Fair enough.
But opera does all this and does it better.
Firefox is hyped up, thats all.
Even ie has tabs and a google search in the top corner.

Give opera a try and give a few days to learn the mouse gestures, it's a brilliant way to browse

I'm not going on Hype. I used IE, Netscape, Mozilla, Opera and then Firefox. I have come to an informed decision about what I like, and I know what annoys me.
